HumanWare Brailliant BI 20X
HumanWare Brailliant BI 20X — about $2,199 · star rating unverified in our research · Blind pick — a 20-cell refreshable braille display with cursor routing keys and a Perkins-style 8-dot keyboard, pairing with five Bluetooth devices plus USB.
KeySoft Lite runs standalone apps — notetaker, calculator, and readers for Bookshare, BARD, and NFB Newsline — text-to-speech speaks the word under the cursor, and 16GB of storage holds a serious library.
Audience fit, stated plainly: this is for braille readers, and most blind adults don't read braille — including our own curator. If you do, this is the mainstream pick; if you don't, no display will change that. Price context: the 40-cell BI 40X is $3,695, and state vocational rehabilitation programs fund these — ask before you pay out of pocket.
