HIMS Blaze ET
The verdict
Free firmware updates, Wi-Fi downloads, and a long track record in blind-tech reviews (AFB AccessWorld covered it in depth). The Swiss-army-knife branch of the HIMS family.
HIMS Blaze ET — about $795 · star rating unverified · Blind pick — a portable talking-book player that also reads printed pages aloud: DAISY books, podcasts, and an OCR camera that photographs a page and speaks it. One device for books and mail.
The honest flag: this is legacy hardware — HIMS's current flagship is the Sense Player ($650/$750 with OCR), and the Blaze ET's web-radio/OCR features drew mixed reviews. We verified the $795 MSRP but could not pin down a current buy-new listing; confirm price and stock with HIMS before buying, or look at the Sense Player first.
