SwitchBot Hub 2
The verdict
The Hub 2's job is translation: its IR blaster learns your TV remote, your AC remote, your fan remote, and then Alexa, Google, or Apple Home speaks to all of them. Two physical tactile buttons on the unit trigger scenes by touch, and the built-in temperature, humidity, and light sensors feed automations — 'if the room passes 78, turn on the fan' — that run without anyone touching anything.
SwitchBot Hub 2 — about $59.99 (MSRP $69.99) · ≈4.4/5 on Amazon — the Matter bridge that voice-controls your dumb TV, air conditioner, and curtains through one hub.
The blind-user caveats are honest: the front display is useless without sight, and the capacitive touch buttons are easy to mis-trigger when you're feeling for the tactile ones — learn the layout once and it's fine, but the first week has accidental taps. Some reviews report clunky Alexa and Matter pairing; the fix cluster in reviews is patience and the 2.4 GHz network.
This is the hub that makes the rest of the SwitchBot line — the Bot that pushes buttons, the Curtain that opens drapes — voice-controllable as a system. If you're buying into SwitchBot piecemeal, the Hub 2 is the piece that ties it together; without it, each device is an island.
