Ring Video Doorbell Wired
The verdict
For blind shoppers the value is audio alerts plus voice answers, not the video: Alexa announces 'someone is at the front door,' and you answer and talk through the phone or an Echo, without ever looking at a feed. It is distinct from the Battery Doorbell 2024 already in the catalog — this one trades battery convenience for never charging.
Ring Video Doorbell Wired — about $49.99 list ($39.99 on deal) · ≈4.4/5 from ~79,055 ratings · the cheapest Ring that never needs charging, because it is hardwired.
Specs
- Alexa announcements on Echo devices
- Two-way talk from the phone
Blind details
For a blind buyer, the checks are wiring and the announcement chain: existing doorbell wiring is required, and the Alexa announcement is the feature to test first. If the household already has Echo devices, the doorbell becomes an audio doorbell.
Honest caveats: requires existing doorbell wiring, so installation is not tool-free, and a Ring Protect plan is needed for saved video and history. As of October 2026 the list price was $49.99 with deal prices at $39.99.
