Ring Battery Doorbell (2024)

The verdict

Battery-powered means no wiring — the hard part is purely physical: drill, mount, get it level. Get sighted help once for the install and you're done; after that it's all voice and app.

Ring Battery Doorbell (2024) — about $60–$100 · ≈4.5★ — and here's the honest blind-shopper read: a video doorbell you never have to look at. The video is for the app; what you get is a chime, a phone notification, and two-way talk — “hold on, I'll be right there” without opening the door to a stranger.

The Ring app's VoiceOver support is decent, and an Echo announces visitors by name if you want it to.

Shopper math: the doorbell itself is $100, but recordings and package alerts need Ring Home at about $5/month. Without the subscription it still rings, chimes, and does live talk — decide whether you need the recordings before you resent the fee.
