Amazon Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen)
The verdict
The 3rd-gen Show 5 (2023) pairs a 5.5-inch display with a 1.75-inch speaker, a 2MP camera, and Alexa, plus Matter support over Wi-Fi so it can control compatible smart-home gear. It sets alarms and timers, plays music and podcasts, shows the weather and calendar, makes video calls, and can show a compatible video doorbell feed.
Amazon Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen) — about $99.99 at Amazon (often $59.99 on sale) · 4.2★ from 312 ratings (Target) · the compact smart display that is really a bedside clock, speaker, and camera in one.
It is the smallest Echo with a screen, sized for a nightstand.

Blind details
Blind-shopper angle: buy this for the voice, not the screen. Everything the Show 5 does is voice-first — alarms, timers, music, smart-home control — and the screen is a bonus you can ignore. The honest blind-shopper check: the 2MP camera is unchanged since 2019 and there is no auto-framing, so do not buy it as a video-call device; buy it as a bedroom Alexa with a clock display for sighted family members. Setup is voice-guided, and the mic/camera off button plus camera shutter are physical controls. If you already have an Echo Dot, the upgrade buys you the screen and a better speaker, not better voice control.
Honest caveats: Alexa+ features require Prime or an Alexa+ subscription, and the 2nd-gen model is no longer sold new — make sure the listing says 3rd Gen (2023). As of October 2026 the list price is $99.99 with $59.99–$69.99 sale pricing recurring.
