WayAround Tag-it-Yourself Starter Pack
The verdict
Tags stick to cans, clothing, medicine bottles, and file folders; the app records your own voice label. Works with iPhone 7+ (built-in NFC) or NFC Android; older phones need the separate WayLink Bluetooth scanner (~$100).
WayAround Tag-it-Yourself Starter Pack — $74.95 · star rating unverified in our research (no Amazon listing) · Blind pick — 60 NFC smart tags you program with an iPhone app, then scan to hear what a thing is: "black beans," "size 9, black," "mom's birthday candle." One of the best-organized labeling systems a blind household can buy.
Honest cost note: $74.95 is more than the ~$60 the starter used to be — the price has crept. And labels live in the phone app, so a phone upgrade means re-setting them up. Still the cleanest labeling system we've found at the price.
