Kitchen — the glass kettle with an audible off-click

COSORI Electric Glass Kettle, 1.7L

The verdict

The spec sheet is short and good: 1.7 litres, 1500 watts, borosilicate glass body with a stainless steel lid, spout, and filter, so no plastic contacts the water at all. It boils fast, shuts itself off when the water boils, and has boil-dry protection if you switch it on empty.

COSORI Electric Glass Kettle, 1.7L — about $26 · ≈4.5/5 from ~46,000 ratings on Amazon · the #1 Best Seller electric kettle, and the one to buy if you want nothing plastic touching your water.

For a blind shopper, the auto shut-off is the feature that matters most — no watching, no guessing, no burnt kettle — and the click when it switches off is your audible done signal.

The blind-shopper catch is the one nobody mentions: glass is see-through, and you cannot see the water level. Solve it before the first boil. Fill from a fixed measuring jug (a 1-litre jug plus a mug, for example) so you always know exactly how much is in, and always fill before switching on. The wide mouth makes filling and cleaning easy by hand, and the stainless filter at the spout keeps scale out of the cup. Listen for reviews praising fast boiling and easy cleaning, and discount the ones complaining about the glass being glass — it is, and that is the point.

Honest caveats: borosilicate is tougher than regular glass but it will still shatter if dropped on tile, so keep it away from the edge of the counter and never carry it by the lid. It does not whistle — the shut-off click is the only announcement, so do not walk away and expect a whistle to call you back. And the outside gets hot: handle it by the handle only, every time. As of October 2026 the price was verified around $25.99 against a $27.99 list price, with color variants priced a few dollars apart.
