Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer

The verdict

Blind details

For a blind shopper buying this as a gift, the tactile checks matter more than the styling claims. The magnetic attachments snap on and off by feel with a distinct click, which is genuinely easier than twist-lock attachments, and the controls are a small set of switches on the handle — worth learning by touch once, then they stay put. Listen to reviews for weight and noise: at 1.8 pounds with a balanced handle it is lighter in the hand than most full-power dryers, and reviewers consistently call it quieter. Confirm the attachment count before checkout, because Dyson sells one-attachment (Origin) and five-attachment versions under the same Supersonic name at different prices.

Honest caveats: this is a luxury price for a dryer, and the 14% one-star share in its rating breakdown shows some buyers felt it was not worth it or had reliability complaints. Attachments are magnetic, so they can be knocked off if bumped, and the dryer is corded — check cord length against the bathroom layout. As of October 2026.
