Much improved, still third. New this generation: a screen reader for Home menus and system settings (voice, speed, and volume adjustable), text size presets, bold text, high contrast, zoom, mono audio, button remapping, and GameChat text-to-speech with live subtitles. The plain caveat: the accessibility features are not available during setup — first-time setup needs sighted help — and game-level spoken support from Nintendo’s own titles is unconfirmed. Buy it for Nintendo’s games and family play, not as a blind player’s primary console.
