Board Games — the classic, adapted by touch

Tactile Connect Four (Braille Superstore adaptation)

The verdict

Tactile Connect Four — about $24.95 at the Braille Superstore · star rating unverified in our research · the Hasbro classic, adapted so blind and sighted players compete on equal footing.

This is the genuine Hasbro Connect Four grid, with two small but decisive adaptations from Blind in Mind, The Braille Superstore. First, the red discs have a hole punched in the center while the yellow discs do not, so you can tell your pieces from your opponent's by touch alone. Second, an optional clip locks the slider bar at the bottom of the board, so feeling around the grid mid-game cannot accidentally dump everyone's discs.

The game itself needs no adaptation beyond that: two players take turns dropping discs into a vertical grid, and the first to line up four in a row — horizontal, vertical, or diagonal — wins. Because the board is vertical and the pieces are chunky, the whole game state is readable by hand: you can feel which columns are filling up and where the threats are. It plays in about 10 minutes, works for ages 6 and up, and needs no app, no batteries, and no sighted helper to referee.

Specs

  • 2 players, ages 6 and up
  • Grid, 2 legs, slider bar, and slider-bar clip included
  • 21 red discs with center holes, 21 solid yellow discs
  • About 10 minutes per game
  • Durable plastic, made by Hasbro Gaming and adapted by Blind in Mind

Honest caveats: the game rules ship in print only, so a braille reader will want a sighted reader or a phone camera app to read them once — after that the game is fully tactile. Adult assembly is required, and the clip is optional but worth using every game. As of October 2026 the Braille Superstore lists it in stock with free shipping.
