SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD (1TB)
The verdict
IP65 water/dust resistance, drop-proof to 3 meters, optional hardware encryption. At 1.5 ounces it's pocketable backup you can hang off a bag.
SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD (1TB) — about $249.99 (list $299.99) · 4.6★ from ~92,100 reviews · honest blind-shopper read: one USB-C port, a carabiner loop, no screen or display at all — plug it in and go. The 2026 model hits 2,000MB/s, so big backups finish fast.
Price swings hard on this one — $250 today, ~$210 on sale recently — so don't pay full price without checking for a deal. And it's an SSD, not archival storage: keep a second copy of anything irreplaceable.
